IDI Design Group began 35 years ago when Tobie arrived in New York as a diamond dealer.  Tobie imported both rough and finished diamonds from his offices around the world.  Tobie's understanding of diamonds stems from his accomplishments in the various stages of a diamond.  As a teenager, Tobie worked as a diamond cleaver in Antwerp.  After mastering this science and technique, Tobie traveled all over the world seeking new sources of diamonds.  He lived in Venezuela, Israel and spent a lot of time in India learning the diamond trade.  In 1977, Tobie and Meira arrived in New York and continued his career as a diamond dealer.  After years of travel to India, Belgium, Israel and Venezuela, Tobie took the next natural step - setting his diamonds in jewelry.

As a teenager, Meira T served as clothing buyer for her family's retail stores in Germany.  Meira learned the diamond business in Israel in her early twenties, then moved to Belgium with her husband to further her diamond education.  In the early 1970s, she designed a full live of children's sweaters that were sold primarily in many New York Madison Avenue boutiques and major children's department stores.  Meira T joined her husband and started designing diamond jewelry that is now sold in major jewelry stores throughout North and South America and the Caribbean.  She gets her inspiration from her European and Middle Eastern background.  These inspirations are clear in all her designs.
